3. Lines and circles
| On a new piece of paper draw a semicircle as in exercise 2. | ||
| Draw a chord of the semicircle parallel to the bottom edge of the paper and extend the chord to the edges of the paper. | ||
| Bend the plastic along the semicircle and view the reflection of the chord from inside the semicircle. Click the right picture for an enlargement in a new window. | ||

| Observe that the line segment reflects to what appears to be an arc of a cirlce. |
