Melodic and Harmonic intervals

When two notes are offset from each other in time, the intervallic distance between them is referred to as a melodic interval.
When two notes sound simultaneously, the intervallic distance between them is referred to as a harmonic interval.
Three or more simultaneously sounding notes are often referred to as a chord.
