1. (e) Placing the origin at the left endpoint of the inch, we subdivide the inch into halves with these functions.
f0(x) = x/2   and   f1(x) = x/2 + 1/2
Calling I the unit interval and denoting by I0, I1, I00, I01, ... the regions with addresses 0, 1, 00, 01, ... , we see
