Bateman Professor of Geophysics, Physics and Applied Mathematics

Our Group consists of a mix of physical and mathematical scientists ranging from undergraduates to faculty.  We do our work using coffee, paper, pencil, numerical methods, experiments in a fluid dynamics and ice physics laboratory.

Our collaborations, colleagues and students at Yale span many departments and programs; Departments of Astronomy, Geology & Geophysics, Mathematics, Physics, the Programs in Applied Mathematics and Solar and Terrestrial Physics and the School of Engineering and Applied Science.

Our Research harnesses approaches and methods from modern applied mathematics and physics, experiments and numerical simulations to probe a broad range of problems from the microscopic theory of melting to the mechanisms underlying cosmogony.  We publish our work on these topics in a wide range of venues.
